About Us

In case you have not seen us by now: We are the Student Academic Affairs Council Board of 2016-2017.

Who are we? We are the democratically elected students representing your voices when it comes to the academic part of your life at EUC. If you are discontent with how classes are arranged, or have questions regarding majors, or would like to anonymously complain about staff, then WE are the people to go to! The SAAC strives to answer your academic-related questions, and relay your complaints or suggestions to EUC’s staff and management. We will voice YOUR concerns!

The SAAC board is comprised of the Chair, the Secretary, the External Affairs Officer, the Internal Affairs Officer, the Student Advisor, and the First Year Representative; a mix of first, second and third year students. We have various events planned throughout the year consisting of, amongst others, a Future Week where you will be able to find out more about majors, departments and exchange opportunities, and monthly SAAC Office Hours where you can freely ask our board members any of your questions while sipping a beer and crunching on some crisps. The SAAC will also send out a monthly newsletter containing the most recent academic changes at EUC and other useful information.

A Chat With: An Exchange Student - Willem Lagaaij

An Exchange Student Willem Lagaaij  -  Chulalongkorn, Bangkok Exchange From a young age I have always had the ambition of living abroad for some parts of my life. Although I love the Netherlands, I have always felt it to be quite limiting. I always viewed Holland as this tiny part in this huge world filled with diversity, experiences and opportunities.  Studying at EUC already brought some of this diversity to me, but an exchange is my first opportunity to get a better understanding of this world myself. I chose Asia specifically because it had always been this mysterious hidden world to me. I heard about it all the time, but never actually knew that much about it. Getting the opportunity to live here and call this place home gives me a unique insight in this part of the world.   University The Chulalongkorn University is a special community to be a part of, especially as a white guy. At my University all students are expected to wear a uniform. Althoug...

A Chat With: An Alumnus - Joia de Jong

An Alumnus Joia de Jong - MSc Sociology of Culture, Media and the Arts Erasmus, Rotterdam Master I’m doing an Research Master in Sociology of Culture, Media and the Arts in Rotterdam. Experience so far Personally, I am in doubt whether this master is the perfect master for me. The University College environment is a really special environment. So especially in the first months, I had rehab symptoms. I missed the personal interactions between students and teachers, constructive feedback from one person to another and simply the genuine interest in each other. It wasn’t only the environment that I needed to adjust to, but also working incredibly long hours with insane deadlines for research that doesn’t seem relevant. In the beginning, I felt there was too much emphasis upon the arts side of research. I’ve decided for myself that in December I will make a choice whether to continue or not, because then I’ve also followed other courses.  Application Process The applicat...

A Chat With: An Exchange Student - Maud Paulis

An Exchange Student M aud Paulis - Bocconi, Milan Exchange Before I even came to EUC I already knew that I wanted to take advantage of the exchange opportunities given here. To me, exchange is very important for your own personal development, and of course it is also a lot of fun! For anyone considering it, I definitely urge you to just go for it. University So far, Bocconi has been great. There was a huge selection of courses to choose from. Currently I am taking Management of Fashion Companies, New Product Development and Open Innovation, E-marketing and E-Commerce, and Global Sustainability Strategy. It’s really great that I can use this semester to choose the courses I am personally most interested in, and at such a great university at that! Housing I decided against staying at the dorms provided by the university, and instead found a place on my own through Spotahome. Though rent is pricey in Milan, I found a really nice and modern room in a big student house. It’s really...
